Do I really need a will?

Well a Will allows you to protect family and decide where your possessions and money go when you die – if you have financial dependants their future could depend on you taking this step.

What happens if I die without a Will?

If you were to die without having a valid Will then you would die ‘Intestate’ which would mean your estate would be divided according to the rules of intestacy – thus allocating your affects to recipients you may not ordinarily wish too! If you are not married or are in a civil partnership but would wish for your partner to have specific items or assets then your Will ensures this will occur.

What about looking after my children in the event of death until they
come of age?

Your financial advisor can help you facilitate appropriate life assurance and guide you through the key elements in ensuring your children and other family members have sufficient protection if you were unable to provide as a result of premature death. Whilst a Will helps safeguard your assets by ensuring any Trustees (protectors of monies pre-selected by you) have clear instructions to what would have been your wishes if you were alive.
