What to do if you are arrested!
You will be notified at the Police Station that you are entitled to free and independent legal advice.
It is recommended that you obtain legal advice at the earliest stage in your attendance at the Police Station,
whether you are under arrest or are there as a ‘volunteer’. Once notified, Malekin Law will have a member of our
legal team with you as soon as possible to assist. Simply remember our name as the Police have our emergency number
and should you be eligible you will not have to pay a penny for Police Station advice – as this is based on the nature
of the offence, not your finances!
Once you have left the Police Station and you qualify for Legal Aid, we will represent you free of charge. A representation
order in the Magistrate’s Court can grant you Legal Aid – this is means tested and depends on the merits of your case. There
are 2 tests – the ‘Interests of Justice’ test and the ‘Financial Eligibility’ test both of which we can explain in greater
detail upon enquiry.
Remember Call our Emergency Number on 029 2037 9464 for Urgent Advice Now!!
